American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring ACLS and NIH Stroke Certification for night shift coverage.
Details- Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting with two cost center units (34 beds and 25 beds)
- Patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5 on days and 1:5 to 1:6 on nights
- Unit supported by techs and unit secretaries
- Equipment used includes BiPAPs, high flow O2, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, and peritoneal dialysis
- Wound vac troubleshooting performed in conjunction with wound care team
- Meditech documentation system used
- Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
- Every other weekend requirement
- Floating required between PCU units or to med-surg floors as needed
- Hourly patient rounding on days and every 2-hour rounding on nights
- Active RN license, TN or compact license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIH Stroke Certification required for PCU
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Critical thinking skills and EKG rhythm interpretation skills required
- Experience with cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips required
- Peripheral IV skills required
- Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred
- Experience with BiPAP, high flow O2, and multiple oxygen delivery systems
- Experience with stroke and post cardiac cath care
- Experience with tube feedings and NG/Dobhoff tube management preferred
- US SSN and DOB required for consideration
- No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months
- Perform procedures including thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, Dobhoff/NG tube insertions, and central line dressing changes
- Utilize AIDET communication standards and maintain communication boards for patient experience
- Unit uses self-scheduling with 4-week schedules
- Black scrubs required as part of dress code
- Strong team culture with techs assisting in patient care
- Most travelers who work on this PCU unit choose to extend their assignment
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility, no local candidates accepted
