Senior Accountant – Single Family Office Position Overview
This is an exceptional opportunity for a detail-oriented accounting professional with an interest in the family office industry. The Senior Accountant will join a boutique, single family office with a small, close-knit team supporting a private equity founder and CEO. The role reports to an experienced family office employee and offers direct exposure to a broad range of accounting, reporting, and real estate responsibilities.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, a high degree of discretion, and the ability to manage a varied workload in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.
Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Accounting, Bookkeeping & Accounts Payable- Maintain accurate books and records for the family office and related domestic entities
- Process accounts payable, manage vendor relationships, and ensure timely payments
- Reconcile and maintain general ledger accounts on an ongoing basis
- Prepare detailed cash activity schedules and monitor cash balances across accounts
- Support and manage the month-end close process
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages
- Maintain organized financial records and documentation to support internal reporting and external reviews
- Prepare and track quarterly estimated tax payments
- Coordinate with external tax CPAs on the preparation and filing of multiple business and entity returns, including partnerships, LLCs, and other related structures
- Liaise with external advisors including CPAs, bankers, insurance brokers, and private foundation advisors to ensure timely information flow and deliverables
- Coordinate day-to-day operations with property managers, including rent collection, operating expense reviews, and lease administration
- Work with real estate brokers on leasing activity, vacancy management, and related transactions
- Manage relationships with general contractors for tenant improvements (TI) and construction projects, including invoice review and budget tracking
- Identify and implement improvements to financial procedures and workflows, including the integration of AI tools to enhance efficiency
- Support special projects and ad hoc analyses as directed
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality with respect to family and financial affairs
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting or finance experience; experience in a family office, private equity firm, or public accounting is preferred
- CPA certification or active CPA candidate strongly preferred
- Experience with Quick Books and/or other accounting software; familiarity with payables
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Experience with real estate accounting or property-level financial management is a plus
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently, stay organized, and effectively prioritize competing tasks in a small-team environment
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively with external advisors and vendors
- High degree of integrity, professionalism, and discretion
This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Hermosa Beach, California. Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. The role offers the opportunity to work in a high-trust, boutique environment with direct access to experienced family office leadership.
