Position: Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Hernando, MS

Your expertise in deaf education will help cultivate an inclusive, engaging, and supportive classroom environment where every student's needs are understood and addressed.

Qualifications and

Experience:
  • Current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state-specific credentials required)
  • Experience working with deaf or hard of hearing students in an educational setting
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication methods preferred
  • Strong knowledge of assistive technology and accommodations for students with hearing loss
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to fostering an accessible and encouraging learning atmosphere
Core Responsibilities:
  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with hearing differences
  • Assess student abilities and progress, adapting materials and teaching methods
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, audiologists, and other specialists
  • Advocate for students' needs within the educational system
  • Facilitate effective communication between students, school staff, and families
  • Support the implementation of technology and resources to enhance learning
  • Participate in IEP meetings and document student progress regularly
