The Therapeutic Behavioral Aide focuses on delivering direct care services, behavioral guidance, and training and support to individuals in Health Connect America programs. This role emphasizes enhancing functional, daily, and community living skills for individuals facing developmental disabilities, substance abuse issues, and emotional or behavioral challenges. Through personalized care and targeted interventions, the Therapeutic Behavioral Aide helps foster independence and improve quality of life.
- Provides one-on-one direct behavioral intervention with children/youth or support and training with individuals, including but not limited to:
- Serves as a positive role model for the child/youth
- Provides time-structuring activities
- Provides immediate behavioral reinforcements including appropriate de-escalation techniques
- Assists with providing appropriate time-out strategies
- Assists group leader in daily group activities
- Applies cognitive behavioral approaches
- Assists individuals to engage in, or remain engaged in, appropriate activities
- Helps minimize impulsive behavior
- Helps increase social and community competencies by building or reinforcing daily living skills for home and community living
- Assists individuals in developing the ability to sustain self-directed appropriate behavior
- Helps individuals internalize a sense of social responsibility and participate proactively in community activities
- Assists in developing behavioral treatment plans with input from the treatment team
- Establishes a therapeutic relationship to ensure effective guidance, support, and service delivery
- Maintains client safety during services and remains responsive to client needs
- Collaborates with caregivers/guardians and supports family caregivers’ efforts
- Verifies and ensures all required forms are completed and on file
- Maintains confidentiality regarding the individual and family
- Reports incidents of suspected child and elder abuse per mandated reporting requirements
- Communicates professionally with clients, parents, and guardians
- Attends and participates in supervision, treatment team meetings, and required trainings
- Maintains accurate progress notes and records in line with program standards, policies, and state requirements
- Completes and submits required documentation within policy timelines
- May provide transportation for individuals to activities and appointments
- Maintains confidentiality, respects human rights, and practices universal precautions
- Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures
- AL
- Bachelor of Arts in psychology, social work, child development or a closely related field and two years’ experience with children/youth in a mental health environment; or
- Associate of Arts and four years’ direct service experience with children/youth in behavioral health
- NC
- High school diploma or GED required;
Associate’s degree preferred - Human services experience preferred
- Current CPR/FA, NCI certification, BBP training, or must complete within mandated timeframe
- Driver’s license, car registration, vehicle insurance required if providing transportation; driving record must be in good standing
