The Front of House Manager will be responsible for providing leadership to the pub operation, mentoring, training, and coaching staff, and implementing business plans set by the General Manager/Managing Partner.
Reporting Relationship
The Front of House Manager reports directly to the General Manager/Managing Partner. The Service Staff, Food Runner, and Host/Hostess report to the Front of House Manager.
Managerial Duties
- Know all policies, procedures, training techniques, and marketing plans.
- Train new and existing employees on pub procedures and job functions.
- Attend weekly management meetings and follow up on assignments.
- Collaborate with Kitchen and Bar management on ordering, receiving, and inventory.
- Ensure new hires are trained per standards and procedures.
- Maintain strong product knowledge of all menus.
- Practice pub management principles per shift.
- Ensure accurate physical inventory.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy pub environment.
- Monitor equipment and coordinate repairs.
- Control theft, waste, and pilferage, and report issues.
- Maintain consistent costs for food, beverages, labor, and supplies.
- Keep the pub interior and exterior organized and clean.
- Follow procedures for ordering, receiving, storage, and inventory.
- Maintain good relations with law enforcement, authorities, and the community.
- Adhere to laws regarding food and alcohol service.
- Maintain professionalism and friendliness with customers and staff.
Staff Management
- Interview and recruit front of house staff.
- Manage staff orientation and training.
- Handle staff evaluations, discipline, and terminations.
- Manage employee schedules and ensure adherence to safety procedures.
- Create weekly employee schedules.
Sales and Marketing
- Maintain marketing and promotional strategies with the General Manager/Managing Partner.
- Manage advertising across platforms.
- Provide promotional materials as needed.
Operations
- Ensure high quality and presentation of food and beverages.
- Maintain customer service policies and ensure excellent service.
- Maintain operational standards and handle customer complaints.
- Keep the pub clean and compliant with health and liquor regulations.
- Arrange maintenance and repairs as needed.
- Provide a safe environment for all.
- Monitor sales, profitability, and operational metrics.
- Generate management reports and handle cash responsibly.
Qualifications
- Must be 21+ with valid .
- Food handler and/or alcohol service certification required.
- Physical ability to reach, bend, climb stairs, and lift 50-60 pounds.
- Ability to stand for long periods.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills required.
- Awareness of hazards like slips and burns.
- Professional appearance and outgoing personality necessary.
