Payroll Accountant

Position Title: Payroll Accountant (Gov Con)

Location: Herndon - hybrid position 3x/week on-site

Assignment Type: Direct hire

Compensation: $75-95K

Job Description:

• Support payroll operations by reviewing payroll data, resolving discrepancies, and assisting with semi-monthly payroll processing.
• Assist with month-end close activities, including preparing account reconciliations and ensuring balance sheet accuracy.
• Record and maintain financial transactions through journal entries and general ledger updates.
• Manage the accounts payable process, including invoice verification, coding, and timely payment execution.
• Ensure proper accounting treatment for government contracts, including FFP, CPFF, and T&M contract types, in accordance with FAR requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support accurate project costing and maintain the integrity of financial reporting.
• Contribute to the development and enhancement of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for external audits, DCAA reviews, and compliance requests.
• Assist with incurred cost submissions and other regulatory and contract compliance reporting requirements.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Payroll software exposure (ADP, Paycom, Paylocity, etc.)
• CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA certification strongly preferred.
• 2+ years experience supporting government contractors.
