Overview
The Accountant provides accounting functions to the Credit Union to include reconcilement of all general ledger accounts, accounts payable processing and member account adjustments.
Responsibilities- Performs daily balancing, reconciling, researching, and problem solving on general ledger accounts
- Performs daily reconciliations in Frontier (Accounting reconciliation Software)
- Reviews and corrects daily balancing reports, verifying that all member transactions and GL accounts are balanced and reconciled
- Prepares a variety of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports, including, but not limited to, NCUA Call Report and Board Reports
- Completing journal entries and adjustments to assist the monthly closing of the financials books
- Ensuring daily balancing of loans and deposits between Prologue and DNA
- Balancing escrow portfolio and unapplied balances
- Serves as back-up support to the Accounts Payable Team when needed
- Serves as a back-up support to process Concur-employee reimbursement system when needed
- Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience
- Proficient in Excel skills, with advanced knowledge of Formulas and Functions
- Must have knowledge of the Credit Union’s products and services
- Ability to calculate simple and complex financial formulas
- Demonstrated strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct management supervision
- Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness as a self-starter
- Knowledge of GAAP, FASB regulations
- Ability to work effectively on-site in our Herndon, VA headquarters and equally effectively remotely
- Must be able to work the hours of M-F 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- Financial institution or public accounting firm experience

Base compensation for this role ranges from $62,628 – $106,600 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
