AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and their servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment, ensuring customers have reliable access to the cloud. The team works on complex problems across thousands of variables, including supply chain challenges, and we are seeking talented people to help.

You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, network, and supply‑chain engineers, security experts, and operations managers. Your role will collaborate with AWS leadership, external agencies, and consultants to deliver the highest standards of safety, security, and capacity at the lowest possible cost.

• Lead project teams of discipline leads to deliver high‑quality, globally consistent Data Center designs while staying within budget and schedule.
• Influence stakeholders, customers (operations), and external consultants to address program‑wide design changes.
• Manage escalations and multi‑disciplinary design decisions.
• Oversee design development, change management, permitting, and implementation lifecycle with AHJs and construction managers.
• Apply project management skills: critical‑path scheduling, risk management, quality control, and cost control.
• Manage design consultant engagements, including procurement, contracting, deliverable management, and payments.
• Communicate consistently with AWS Leadership and external partners, including tracking and reporting metrics related to schedule, cost, and quality.
• Mandate adherence to Amazon Leadership Principles.
• Balance competing priorities and drive improved speed, quality, and simplification by eliminating rework and automating manual processes.
• Create global best‑practice documentation and facilitate knowledge sharing.
• Motivate team members to achieve impermissible quality in an explosive‑growth, deadline‑driven environment.
• Travel up to 25% (including optional international travel) for site assessments, design meetings, construction reviews, and consultant interface.

• Lead design team meetings to coordinate cross‑disciplinary decisions.
• Review and approve design documents and changes.
• Manage consultant deliverables and performance.
• Respond to technical escalations from various teams.
• Collaborate with procurement and construction teams during implementation.
• Co‑ordinate with AHJs for permitting requirements.
• Track project metrics for schedule, cost, and quality.
• Create and update best‑practice documentation.
• Participate in stakeholder meetings.
• Conduct site assessments and construction reviews.
• Manage critical‑path schedules and risk mitigation.
• Mentor team members on design standards.
• Analyze design optimization opportunities.
• Review RFIs and submittal responses.

• 6+ years of data‑center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience.
• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, oil & gas).
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of critical data‑center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data‑center equipment and facilities.

• Professional Engineering or Architectural License.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
• Experience propelling design concepts from exploration through deployment or mass production.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and producing construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

The base salary range for this position is $136,600–$184,800 annually (Virginia) and $136,600–$184,800 annually (Washington).
