Overview

The RoleThe Estimator is responsible for coordination of project budgeting, including quantity surveys, subcontractor pricing, review of cost data, feasibility and value engineering counsel, and administrative support to the Chief Estimator.
Responsibilities- Unit Cost Pricing: understand scope, prepare detailed takeoffs, material and labor estimates, solicit material prices.
- Obtain current labor rates, build unit prices, verify comparisons with subcontractors and past estimates.
- Market Conditions: understand influence on pricing.
- Subcontractor Solicitation & Selection: prepare list, bid invitations, bid packages, follow up, scope sheets.
- Subcontractor Relationships & Feedback: keep subs updated, answer questions, prepare RFIs, maintain relationships.
- Preconstruction Abilities: assist with quantity takeoffs, subcontractor solicitation, document lists.
- Conceptual Estimating: prepare take off quantities and counts.
- Hard Bid and Design Build Estimating: procure drawings/specs, date stamp, confirm deliveries, assemble bid binder, conduct site visits, prepare bid packages.
- Turn Over Meetings: compile packages, attend meetings.
- Exhibit B & Scope Sheets: prepare sheets.
- Quality Control: prepare scope of work spreadsheets, meet deadlines, review with senior.

Activities:
develop plug numbers, complete worksheets, follow up, review with senior. - Post Bid
Activities:
attend review meetings, discuss strategy. - Attend weekly staff meetings and training classes as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field.
- 3‑6 years of estimating experience or equivalent.
- Proficient in quantity surveys, take‑offs, Excel, Word.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents at SD, DD, CD phases.
- Knowledge of CSI sections and ability to coordinate documents.
