Position summary:
A career-minded Hydraulic Modeler, looking towards advancement, is needed to join JMT's fast growing Water/Wastewater consultant engineering practice. The selected employee will be responsible for leading engineering hydraulic analysis, planning, and design for a variety of water and sewer infrastructure projects. The selected candidate will become part of an established team of engineers working on exciting sanitary sewer collection system and potable water distribution system hydraulic modeling projects in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Working on collaborative projects related to collection, conveyance, distribution, pumping, and treatment, the candidate will have ample opportunities to contribute to and lead initiatives that shape the future of water and wastewater at JMT and in their local communities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities- Manages project(s) in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget.
- Collaborates with disciplines and subconsultants to develop a risk adverse project scope and fee.
- Develop project specific project plans, Project Management Plans/quality management plan.
- Create and maintain project schedules.
- Manage subconsultants.
- Monitor and execute project progress, including identifying and mitigate risks, developing extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals.
- Communicate project status, updates, and issues to internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in office's project financial status meetings.
- Build relationships with client(s) to understand preferences and requirements to set-up and execute a quality project.
- Prepare progress reports and review invoices.
- Develop and lead in project status and presentations
- Assist Section Heads, Office Leaders, and Practice Leaders with the marketing process including, SMART Go/No Go decisions, proposal development, and interviews.
- Coordinate and guide all technical resources within the project team to ensure delivery of a high-quality outcome, which would include computer modeling of hydraulic infrastructure including water distribution systems and sanitary sewer collection systems
- Perform engineering analysis in support of water and sewer master planning projects
- Assess and identify collection/distribution system performance deficiencies, predict future system constraints, and develop solutions for CIP planning and design projects
- Providing coaching and mentoring to the project team on hydraulic modeling projects through one-on-one check-in meetings and various project debriefs to acknowledge achievements, identify areas for improvement, and share lessons learned.
- Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of team.
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
- Registered Professional Engineer
- Experience delivering water and wastewater projects from study to design, and through construction phase engineering services.
- 8 + years' experience in specialized discipline
- Proficient with hydraulic modeling, transient analyses, data management, and related software packages (e.g., Info Works ICM, Info Water, Water
GEMS, Sewer
GEMS, etc.) - Written and verbal communication skills
- Presentation skills
- CAPM or PMP
- Experience working with local clients at the county and state level
- Experience with multiple project delivery methods i.e. Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3
- Experience managing multidiscipline project teams
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
