Amazon Web Services is hiring a Product Design Electrical Engineer with Medium Voltage Switchgear and/or Medium Voltage Transformer experience for our Electrical Products and Services team. The Electrical Products and Services Team is AWS s Data Center Engineering global engineering team, responsible for the design and continuous innovation for products used within our rapidly expanding data center footprint.

The Electrical Products and Services team designs and develops resilient, cost-effective electrical distribution products and systems. Travel may be necessary up to 30% and international support may be part of the job. An understanding of international electrical product design requirements is helpful but not required.

• Work with internal partner teams to solicit customer input and define design requirements for product design.
• Lead new product design, development, and qualification of critical electrical power distribution equipment for AWS datacenters, with focus on MV switch gear and transformers and connections to LV switch gear and power distribution.
• Develop Capex and Opex budgets accounting for development costs with vendors, prototyping, testing, and specialized tooling.
• Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment and components, ensuring tier 2-3 supply chain resiliency.
• Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC and federal, state, and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries through appropriate testing.
• Validate design through prototype, pre-production, and first-of-kind builds, conducting DFx and value engineering analyses and updating design and documentation.
• Collaborate with field engineering and commissioning teams to test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical products.
• Provide support for manufacturing activities for new products on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations.
• Be a leader within the product development team and among internal and external teams supporting the data center.

• 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience
• Bachelor s degree in Engineering or a related field
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
• Experience developing solutions and executing plans on complex projects
• Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities

• Professional Engineering or Architectural License
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
