Amazon Web Services is seeking Mechanical Engineers to become part of a global engineering team, responsible for the implementation and technical evaluation of our designs and the continuous innovation of our rapidly expanding data center footprint.
Key job responsibilities- Design and implement energy‑efficient mechanical systems for data centers
- Partner with teams to develop innovative cooling solutions and sustainability initiatives
- CFD modeling and analysis experience
- BIM/Revit experience
- Create comprehensive documentation for mechanical designs and operational procedures
- Support continuous improvement through data analysis and system optimization
- Guide project teams through planning, execution, and commissioning phases
- Conceives, initiates, and leads projects with widespread impact on infrastructure design, innovation and implementation
- Decompose complex problems into straightforward and actionable solutions
- Work with internal teams to understand user requirements and challenges
- Collaborate with teams or individuals from other disciplines, cultures and countries
- Escalate issues as required and communicate clearly and effectively at the appropriate level of detail with people from a wide range of technical abilities and backgrounds
- Produce clear and concise documentation such as detailed design specifications, white papers, wiring schematics and diagrams and reports
- Understand and safeguard implementation of the Global Mechanical Basis of Design (BoD) with constant auditing
- Drive standardization in the data center mechanical designs
- Development of strategic solutions, which meet or exceed our quality requirements and fall within our budgetary requirements
- Capture requirements and turn aspirational company or customer goals into well‑defined, achievable and testable specifications and solutions
- Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during innovation and research and development projects
- Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate mechanical equipment
- Review and approval of critical equipment submittals including vendor Witness Tests
- Provide technical support on global Large Scale Events (LSE’s), including participation on deep dives, investigations and recommendations on mitigation plans
- Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions
- Maintain and host technical mechanical forums to provide a collaborative environment for development of data center mechanical systems
- Provide support and mentorship for the whole of the Data Center Engineering community
- Have fun and offer creative out‑of‑the‑box solutions
- 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience
- 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities, including but not limited to data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
