Amazon Web Services is seeking Mechanical Engineers to become part of a global engineering team, responsible for the implementation and technical evaluation of our designs and the continuous innovation of our rapidly expanding data center footprint.

• Design and implement energy‑efficient mechanical systems for data centers
• Partner with teams to develop innovative cooling solutions and sustainability initiatives
• CFD modeling and analysis experience
• BIM/Revit experience
• Create comprehensive documentation for mechanical designs and operational procedures
• Support continuous improvement through data analysis and system optimization
• Guide project teams through planning, execution, and commissioning phases
• Conceives, initiates, and leads projects with widespread impact on infrastructure design, innovation and implementation
• Decompose complex problems into straightforward and actionable solutions
• Work with internal teams to understand user requirements and challenges
• Collaborate with teams or individuals from other disciplines, cultures and countries
• Escalate issues as required and communicate clearly and effectively at the appropriate level of detail with people from a wide range of technical abilities and backgrounds
• Produce clear and concise documentation such as detailed design specifications, white papers, wiring schematics and diagrams and reports
• Understand and safeguard implementation of the Global Mechanical Basis of Design (BoD) with constant auditing
• Drive standardization in the data center mechanical designs
• Development of strategic solutions, which meet or exceed our quality requirements and fall within our budgetary requirements
• Capture requirements and turn aspirational company or customer goals into well‑defined, achievable and testable specifications and solutions
• Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during innovation and research and development projects
• Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate mechanical equipment
• Review and approval of critical equipment submittals including vendor Witness Tests
• Provide technical support on global Large Scale Events (LSE’s), including participation on deep dives, investigations and recommendations on mitigation plans
• Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions
• Maintain and host technical mechanical forums to provide a collaborative environment for development of data center mechanical systems
• Provide support and mentorship for the whole of the Data Center Engineering community
• Have fun and offer creative out‑of‑the‑box solutions

• 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience
• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities, including but not limited to data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
