Overview
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Data Center Structural Engineer to join its design team in Herndon, Virginia.
AWS designs, builds, and operates Data Centers (DC) around the world and is a leader in worldwide cloud‑computing infrastructure. Engineers in AWS work to design resilient, cost‑effective DC facilities, achieving world‑class uptime for customers while developing a fleet of buildings that emphasize security, safety, efficiency, and cost‑effectiveness.
As a DC Structural Engineer at AWS, you will be part of the design team for Amazon DCs in the Americas Region and will impact projects worldwide. You will collaborate with architects, engineers, and designers, provide technical guidance, review milestone drawings by consultants, solve large‑scale implementation issues, and be responsible for structural design requirements.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. You will support all data centers, ensuring continuous access to our customers’ innovation, while working on challenging problems that involve thousands of supply‑chain variables and collaborating across teams to deliver the highest safety and security standards at the lowest cost.

- 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission‑critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
- 4+ years of commissioning experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with building codes and regulations for the relevant region.
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
