Cleared Project Design Elec Engineer, ADC Fleet Remediation Engineering

Description

We have an immediate opening for a Project Design Electrical Engineer in Herndon, VA. This role requires a US Citizen with an active TS/SCI security clearance.

The engineer will lead design projects in operational data centers, providing lifecycle support from design to implementation, including upgrades, capacity improvements, and sustainability initiatives.

• Own design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions that increase capacity, improve availability, and enhance sustainability.
• Perform design and equipment submittal reviews for data centers in the region.
• Interface with internal and external engineering teams, server hardware, environmental health and safety, field engineers, and controls engineers to promote consistent and reliable service standards.
• Manage concurrent projects, sometimes across multiple geographical regions.
• Act as a technical subject matter expert for remediation projects.
• Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover activities.
• Possess strong engineering judgement and provide design recommendations under uncertainty.
• Be detail and data oriented, familiar with design and construction processes.
• Manage engineering projects and engage engineering consultants.
• Build trust and relationships with stakeholders such as Operations, Commissioning, Construction, and Design.
• Manage design and as-built drawings and documents.
• Prepare and present progress reports to stakeholders.
• Be willing to visit the field for hands‑on assessment.

Day in the life:
The engineer interacts with cross‑functional teams to prioritize activities that support data center safety, remediation projects, capacity, and availability.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• NETA or ASHRAE certification or commissioning‑specific education courses.
• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Experience in design, construction, operation or maintenance of mission‑critical facilities, especially data centers.

• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for the region.
• Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems.
• Experience carrying design concepts from exploration through deployment or mass production.
• Experience using web‑based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.

The base salary range for this position in Herndon, VA is $96,600.00 – $ annually, plus sign‑on payments and restricted stock units. Benefits include health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, parental leave, and other comprehensive benefits.
