AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. This role supports all AWS data centers, ensuring reliable access to the cloud through the design and operation of mechanical cooling and controls systems.
You will join a global engineering team that owns the product lifecycle of Mechanical (Cooling) infrastructure products. Your responsibilities include collaborating with suppliers and internal partners, reviewing and approving equipment submittals, and providing engineering ownership from development through operational life.
Key Job Responsibilities- Provide strong engineering judgement and make recommendations despite uncertainty.
- Be detailed and data‑oriented in design evaluation.
- Review, update, and approve equipment submittals.
- Work with global mechanical equipment suppliers and manufacturers.
- Build trust and relationships with stakeholders (reliability, operations, design, compliance).
- Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographic zones.
- Explain complex systems clearly and concisely.
- Support operations with failure‑mode analysis, root‑cause investigation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and procedural review.
- Listen to the voice of the customer to identify reliability or availability improvements.
- Design product improvements and oversee root‑cause analysis with suppliers or manufacturers.
- Contribute to the global knowledge base and drive continuous improvement at a global scale.
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering.
- 5+ years of project experience with cooling systems or components.
- Experience developing validation and testing requirements.
- Experience working with specifications and product standards.
- Experience training or educating others on technical products and certifications.
- 5+ years of experience developing Mechanical and/or Mechanical Cooling Products and launching them into production.
- Hands‑on experience troubleshooting mechanical components and systems.
Salary ranges vary by location and role seniority. Examples of current base salary ranges:
- US, OH, Columbus – $ – $ annually
- US, VA, Herndon – $ – $ annually
- US, WA, Seattle – $ – $ annually
