Job Overview

The Quality Assurance Engineer (QAE) partners with AWS Data Center Engineering to support large‑scale hyperscale data center design and construction projects. The role focuses on engineering design quality, construction coordination, project lifecycle governance, and operational process management, while developing scalable mechanisms to improve operational efficiency across Design Engineering.

• Lead quality assurance reviews for multidisciplinary engineering design deliverables across all major project phases, including early design and construction release milestones.
• Review engineering drawings, narratives, specifications, and supporting construction documentation for completeness, quality, coordination, and compliance with AWS standards and project requirements.
• Coordinate and manage cross‑functional engineering review workflows between Discipline Leads, Design Managers, consultants, Design Services, and external partners to support successful project execution and milestone delivery.
• Support end-to-end project lifecycle coordination activities such as project provisioning, folder structure governance, access management, milestone tracking, distribution workflows, document control, and engineering project setup across systems of record.
• Manage and monitor design review SLAs, milestone approvals, DEREL escalations, revision trends, quality metrics, and unresolved design issues while proactively identifying risks impacting schedules and project delivery.
• Support Construction Administration activities, including participation in OAC meetings, RFI coordination, submittal review tracking, consultant follow‑ups, issue escalation management, and coordination between engineering and construction stakeholders during project execution.
• Serve as the primary operational owner and SME for Design Engineering governance workflows, milestone routing, approval tracking, reporting dashboards, and project coordination processes across multiple regions.
• Drive standardization and continuous improvement initiatives by developing scalable workflows, templates, governance mechanisms, reporting structures, and automation opportunities across engineering and construction management systems.
• Mentor and support onboarding of junior QAEs, promoting engineering quality standards, operational consistency, customer obsession, and a culture of high standards.
• Communicate effectively with senior leadership through clear operational narratives, risk summaries, escalation reporting, strategic recommendations, and executive‑level documentation related to engineering delivery performance and construction readiness.
• Travel up to 25% (including to the AWS Gov Cloud region; U.S. citizenship is required).

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with project management and collaboration platforms such as Smartsheet, Procore, ACC, Salesforce, or similar systems.
• Knowledge of design lifecycle milestones, construction administration workflows, and engineering documentation standards.
• 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission‑critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, or oil and gas).

• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
• Experience developing workflow automations, dashboards, or reporting solutions.
• Familiarity with design delivery mechanisms, milestone governance, and cross‑regional project coordination.
