Telecommunications Designer
kW Mission Critical Engineering, a WSP company, is seeking a Telecommunications Designer to work from any of our offices in Troy NY, New York, NY, Atlanta GA, Milwaukee WI, Tempe AZ, or Herndon VA.
Your Impact- Work independently on BIM/CAD design assignments supporting multiple engineering disciplines.
- Produce accurate 2D drawings and 3D BIM models using Revit or equivalent BIM program.
- Design low‑voltage systems for buildings, including telecommunications, audio‑visual, security, and mechanical/electrical control integrations.
- Meet required schedules while producing quality work.
- Perform QA/QC of design packages.
- Support the team during design and construction stages.
- Research and recommend fundamental components for designs.
- Develop equipment, conveyance and device layouts, floor plans, and riser diagrams.
- Prepare cable schedules and specifications.
- Perform construction administration tasks.
- Survey and evaluate existing conditions.
- Work within multi‑discipline teams to develop drawings and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors and building owners.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of the services provided by kW MCE engineering and design teams.
- Implement best‑practice procedures.
- Integrate project requirements into mission‑critical facility designs.
- Represent the Telecom discipline in internal and client‑facing meetings.
- Lead Telecom design team on projects.
- Mentor junior designers.
The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, and experience with information and communications technology.
Required Qualifications- 3–5 years of experience designing low‑voltage systems for high‑performance commercial, industrial, or mission‑critical/data center buildings.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and other applicable software packages.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail, highly organized, self‑starter.
- Ability to travel to project sites.
- Track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, and harassment policies.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
- Experience in mission‑critical/data center projects.
- Experience with international projects.
- RCDD and/or DCDC certifications.
Expected salary: $96,800 – $135,000. WSP provides comprehensive health, dental, vision, disability, life, and retirement benefits to support long‑term health and financial stability.
