Job DescriptionThis position provides CAD drafting support for the Next Generation Air/Ground Communications (NEXCOM) program. The candidate will create, modify, and maintain engineering drawings for the design and implementation of new Air‑to‑Ground radio equipment at more than a thousand FAA air traffic control centers across the United States. All drawings must comply with FAA orders and standards, including FAA Order 6000.55 and FAA‑STD‑002.
Key Responsibilities- Develop technical and architectural drawings using CAD software and manual drafting methods.
- Ensure all drawings meet established technical, formatting, and documentation standards.
- Provide design support for facility engineering documentation and as‑built drawings.
- Identify discrepancies or errors in engineering documentation and produce precise technical drawings.
- 5 years of experience with a BS/BA; 3 years with an MS/MA; 7 years with an AS degree (or 9 years in lieu of a degree).
- Ability to obtain/maintain a public trust clearance.
- Experience developing technical drawings using CAD tools in engineering, architecture, telecommunications, or infrastructure environments.
- Strong proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD preferred).
- Experience with 3D modeling and Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools.
- Familiarity with engineering, architectural, or manufacturing terminology, symbols, and standards.
- Experience supporting FAA or other federal infrastructure programs.
- Knowledge of facility engineering documentation and as‑built drawing standards.
- Professional certifications such as Autodesk Certified Professional (ACP) and Certified Solid Works Associate (CSWA).
- Experience working with engineering teams supporting telecommunications, facilities, or infrastructure deployments.
Intermediate Level
