SME Network Engineer Security Clearance

SME Network Engineer in Herndon, VA. This position requires a TS/SCI clearance with Poly. You will design, implement, and manage firewall solutions using Cisco, Palo Alto, and Juniper devices. Your responsibilities include configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting firewall policies, monitoring network traffic for security threats, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, staying current on industry trends, translating customer requirements into enterprise solutions, and working independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.

• Minimum 16 years of experience as a Network Engineer.
• Experience designing, implementing, and managing firewall solutions with Cisco, Palo Alto, and Juniper devices.
• Proficiency with firewall management software such as Cisco FTD and Palo Alto Panorama.
• Strong knowledge of network protocols, TCP/IP stack, and OSI model.
• Experience extending on‑premise networks to cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, Oracle, and Google.
• Industry certifications such as CCNA Security, CCNP Security, or Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) are preferred.

• Proven experience as a Network Engineer focusing on firewall technologies.
• Broad understanding of technical principles, theories, and concepts in networking.
• Knowledge of state‑of‑the‑art systems engineering principles and network design concepts.
• Experience with a wide variety of network technologies and solution architectures.
• Strong proficiency with Palo Alto and Cisco firewall platforms.
• Additional certifications such as CCNA Security, CCNP Security, PCNSE, or similar are preferred.
