Engineering Design & Technologists, Architect / Sr. Architect
Responsible for planning, developing, and optimizing architectural layouts for semiconductor manufacturing tool installations within cleanroom environments. This role ensures efficient space utilization, compliance with facility standards, and seamless integration of tools, utilities, and support systems.
Senior designers typically function as the lead designer: often tasked with large areas, entire buildings, or major systems in semiconductor and other support facilities. On large projects lead designers often find themselves having a multi‑person designer support team. Designers at this level are considered highly capable, muti‑faced, reliable, efficient, high‑speed, and self‑reliant team members. The incumbent has experience in multiple subject areas and detailed knowledge of the systems required.
Designers at this level will be adept at final checking the design effort within their realm in preparation for final documentation. Senior designers are assumed to have mastery of design standards and principles.
Develop detailed layout designs for semiconductor equipment installations within fab and cleanroom environments
Coordinate space planning, tool placement, and workflow optimization to maximize efficiency and throughput
Collaborate with facilities, process, equipment, and construction teams to align layout designs with operational requirements
Ensure compliance with cleanroom standards, safety regulations, and facility constraints (e.g., utilities, structural, and environmental)
Produce and maintain layout drawings, 3D models, and installation documentation
Support tool move‑in, installation planning, and ramp‑up activities
Identify and resolve layout conflicts, including utility routing, clearance issues, and access requirements
Contribute to continuous improvement of layout standards and best practices
In addition to the responsibilities of career level designers, you are responsible for leading the design effort from concepts through construction. The senior designer performs the role of leader with the required knowledge and experience base for which other more junior designers and engineers rely. Senior level designers perform work with little to no supervision, review the work of other designers and engineers for accuracy and completeness, and provide technical guidance related to their area of work to designers and architects of all levels.
At this level, experience and self‑guidance are expectations. Depending on project need, assists with assessments, design solutions, and calculations under the direction of a project architect. Code review, analysis, conversation, understanding, and implementation are key senior designer duties.
Plans and conducts work requiring judgement, creativity, and coordination, in the layout and design of spaces, and systems.
Prepares deliverables for all phases of the project including models, plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and details to support design and architectural leads for meetings, proposals, and construction documents.
Attends and participates in design status updates for their areas of responsibility in discipline meetings both internal and external as needed.
Reviews and adheres to specifications in developing and delivering quality designs. Provides specifications input, editing, and comments where appropriate.
Coordinates designs and deliverables and resolves conflicts with / between all disciplines and existing field conditions where required.
Performs field survey of existing conditions.
Responds to design and coordination requests, conflict resolution requests, and information sharing requests in a timely manner.
Provides labor estimates for proposed tasks for their area, building, and team.
Reviewing and processing submittal documents.
Identifies incomplete work or gaps in own work and others and addresses them prior to review.
Employ, enforce, and develop project and client standards and procedures.
Carefully watches for scope creep or design direction that deviates from the basis of design to ensure team and project leadership can react appropriately with design scope, schedule, or budget modifications…
