Senior Design Engineer

Amazon Web Services is hiring a Sr. Product Design Engineer for the Electrical Products and Services engineering team. This electrical product focused team is a part of a global engineering team, responsible for the design and continuous innovation for products used within our rapidly expanding data center footprint. The Electrical Product Engineering team at Amazon works to design and develop resilient, cost-effective electrical distribution products and systems.

We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer with an Electrical Engineering background with hands-on experience in new product design and development of electrical power distribution equipment and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems. You will directly lead product design and development and be a part of the process from concept to implementation. You must be capable of defining equipment specifications and evaluating the merit of design changes.

Key job responsibilities include supporting the Data Center Design Engineering, Principal Engineering, and Hardware Engineering teams to design and develop innovative concepts into new products needed for power distribution for data center. You will lead new product design, development and work with internal teams to understand design requirements and solicit customer input. You will collaborate with other disciplines such as mechanical and structural engineering, reliability, QA/QC and compliance to create well thought out products.

You will work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment, devices and bill of materials. You will ensure compliance with federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes across different countries. You will prepare, review and approval of product design and drawings including electrical bill of materials, configuration, layouts, assembly, construction and electrical wiring drawings. You will define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during manufacturing phases.

You will work with field engineering and commissioning teams to properly set up test processes and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical products. You will be able to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions. You will be a leader within the group as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center.
