You’ll join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Key Job Responsibilities- As a Sr. Structural Engineer in FRE-CSA, you are a leader in your field, working within and leading the work of cross‑functional teams that include technical program management, product management, architectural, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, supply chain management, operations, safety and security, and legal.
- Lead the structural design, strategy, product innovation, development, and audit/remediation of existing sites.
- Communicate technical decisions to leadership and drive continuous improvements with our designs.
- Provide full life‑cycle support to AWS Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance.
- Be the ‘go‑to’ engineering resource for your region when technical advice is needed, using your expertise in structural engineering to:
- Work with a multi‑disciplinary team on conceptual design, build, and retrofit projects.
- Create, review, and release data center structural improvements and designs.
- Drive refinements to the basis of design, product development, sustainability, and template specifications for structural systems.
- Serve as a technical advisor for projects including review of foundation and structural systems.
- Create, review, and release structural design RFPs.
- Manage external structural design consultants through audit, design and implementation while coordinating with internal teams.
- Lead initiatives to improve quality, schedule, consistency or reduce costs in data center construction and improvement projects.
- Work on multiple data center build and capital improvement projects simultaneously without compromising safety and availability constraints.
Amazon has a global presence; therefore 30% to 40% travel will be necessary. Support could consist of auditing/inspecting data centers, working on international teams, and developing schematic and design document packages for existing sites. In this role you will need the ability and willingness to travel for site walks and field observations internationally or domestically with short notice.
