Director of Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Director of Engineering to lead our Site Civil and Transportation Engineering teams
. This is a leadership role focused on growing the engineering practice, developing talented teams, delivering high-quality projects, and building strong relationships with clients.

The ideal candidate is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) with strong experience in civil engineering, land development, transportation projects, team leadership, and business development.

• Lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams, project managers, and technical professionals.
• Build a collaborative culture focused on teamwork, accountability, and professional growth.
• Support hiring, training, and career development of engineering staff.
• Encourage innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical leadership for civil, site development, and transportation projects.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet client expectations.
• Review engineering designs, project deliverables, and quality standards.
• Identify project challenges and work with teams to develop effective solutions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and new clients.
• Support business development efforts, proposals, presentations, and client meetings.
• Identify new project opportunities and help grow the engineering practice.
• Represent the company through networking, industry events, and professional organizations.
• Oversee project performance, budgets, resources, and profitability.
• Support forecasting, staffing plans, and practice growth strategies.
• Improve processes to increase efficiency and project success.

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Virginia required.
• Significant experience in civil engineering, including:
• Site Civil Engineering
• Land Development
• Transportation Engineering
• Proven leadership experience managing engineering teams.
• Strong client management and business development experience.
