Structural Engineer, FRE-CSA - Field Remediation Engineering, Civil Architectural Structural

Overview

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure customers have continuous access to the innovation they rely on. This role is part of the Structural Engineer in Fleet Remediation Engineering, Civil Structural and Architectural (FRE-CSA) team, working to design and remediate data center structures to meet performance, operational, safety, and security standards.

• Work with multidisciplinary professionals on conceptual design, build, and retrofit projects at existing data centers.
• Create, review and release data center structural improvements and designs.
• Drive refinements to the Basis of Design, product development, sustainability, and template specifications for structural systems.
• Serve as a technical advisor for foundation and structural systems.
• Create, review and release structural design RFPs.
• Manage external structural design consultants during audit, design and implementation of projects.
• Lead initiatives improving quality, schedule, consistency or reducing costs for in-flight and future data center construction and improvement projects.
• Manage multiple data center build and capital improvement projects simultaneously while maintaining safety and availability constraints.

30% to 40% travel may be required, including international travel on short notice for site walks, inspections, and working with global teams.

• Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission‑critical facilities, especially data centers.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering.

• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for the region.
• Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment.
• Experience using a variety of web‑based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.

Salary range: $96,600.00 – $ USD annually. Package includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Benefits include health, dental, vision, prescription, EAP, mental health support, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
