Job Overview

A Data Center Civil Engineer will lead civil engineering designs for Amazon Data Centers in the Americas. The role involves collaborating with architects, structural engineers, and MEP designers to deliver prototypical site designs, manage external consultants, and provide technical guidance throughout the design and construction process.

• Manage external civil design consultants through the Data Center design and construction process.
• Review designs for site layout, grading, power substations, storm water, and utilities.
• Coordinate with internal and external architectural, structural, and MEP design engineers.
• Develop preliminary site layout concepts using Civil 3D, incorporating grading, utilities, and circulation patterns while maintaining flexibility for design evolution.
• Effectively communicate design standards to internal and external project partners.
• Communicate conceptual designs and create/maintain project documentation before, during, and after construction.
• Develop and maintain design standards, prototypes, and template specifications related to site design for Data Centers and supporting infrastructure.
• Create, review, and release design RFPs for various projects, including Data Centers and special program facilities.
• Manage multiple fast‑paced projects simultaneously, foreseeing and managing Technical Program Manager expectations regarding project‑specific cost and schedule variables.
• Lead initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality, schedule, and consistency.
• Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with authorities having jurisdiction.

• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
• Professional Engineering license or plan for acquiring within 12 months of start date.
• 3+ years of commercial, warehouse, and/or industrial site‑civil design experience with work in site development, grading, paving, storm water, and utility design.

• Experience using a variety of web‑based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bluebeam Revu.

The base salary range for this position is $96,600.00 to $ USD annually. Your package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
