Position: Sr. Mechanical Engineer - CFD, Data Center Engineering (AWS)

Key Job Responsibilities
  • CFD modeling and analysis (external and interior)
  • Design and implement energy-efficient mechanical systems for data centers
  • Partner with teams to develop innovative cooling solutions and sustainability initiatives
  • BIM/Revit experience
  • Create comprehensive documentation for mechanical designs and operational procedures
  • Support continuous improvement through data analysis and system optimization
  • Guide project teams through planning, execution, and commissioning phases
  • Conceives, initiates, and leads projects with widespread impact on infrastructure design, innovation, and implementation
  • Decompose complex problems into straightforward and actionable solutions
  • Work with internal teams to understand user requirements and challenges
  • Collaborate with teams or individuals from other disciplines, cultures, and countries
  • Escalate issues as required and communicate clearly and effectively at the appropriate level of detail with people from a wide range of technical abilities and backgrounds
  • Produce clear and concise documentation such as detailed design specifications, white papers, wiring schematics and diagrams, and reports
  • Understand and safeguard implementation of the Global Mechanical Basis of Design (BoD) with constant auditing
  • Drive standardization in the data center mechanical designs
  • Develop strategic solutions that meet or exceed our quality requirements and fall within our budgetary requirements
  • Capture requirements and turn aspirational company or customer goals into well-defined, achievable and testable specifications and solutions
  • Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during, innovation and research and development projects
  • Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate mechanical equipment
  • Review and approve critical equipment submittals including vendor Witness Tests
  • Provide technical support on global Large Scale Events (LSE’s), including participation on deep dives, investigations and recommendations on mitigation plans
  • Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions
  • Maintain and host technical mechanical forums to provide a collaborative environment for development of data center mechanical systems
  • Provide support and mentorship for the Data Center Engineering community
  • Have fun and offer creative out-of-the-box solutions
Basic Qualifications
  • 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience
  • 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities, including but not limited to data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance
  • Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.)
  • CFD modeling and analysis
  • Revit/BIM modeling experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineering or Architectural License
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
  • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
