Job :  | Amazon Data Services, Inc.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, network, and operational engineering, supply‑chain, and security professionals. Together we deliver the highest safety and security standards while providing enormous capacity at the lowest possible cost. You’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

What You'll Do
  • Lead design projects in operational data centers that remediate issues, upgrade existing infrastructure, or add new services.
  • Serve as the go‑to engineering resource for these projects and provide lifecycle support from design through implementation.
  • Own design for existing data‑center upgrades and design solutions that add capacity, improve availability, and increase sustainability.
  • Prepare and review short‑circuit coordination studies and maintain software models to match as‑built site conditions.
  • Perform design and equipment submittal reviews for data centers in your region.
  • Interface with internal and external design engineering teams, server hardware, environmental health and safety, field engineering, and controls engineering to promote consistent and reliable standards.
  • Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographies.
  • Act as a technical subject‑matter expert during new remediation projects.
  • Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Strong engineering judgment, able to provide design and recommendations despite uncertainty.
  • Detail‑oriented and data‑driven with familiarity with design/construction processes.
  • Experience managing engineering projects and engineering consultants.
  • Builds trust and relationships with stakeholders such as Operations, Commissioning, Construction, and Design.
  • Manages design and as‑built drawings and documents.
  • Prepares and presents progress reports to all relevant stakeholders.
  • Inclined to get into the field to see things up close.
Responsibilities
  • Prioritize actions to support data‑center safety, remediation projects, capacity, and availability, focusing on the most impactful actions.
  • Collaborate with capacity planning and delivery teams to identify opportunities to increase capacity utilization and develop designs for projects to unblock additional capacity.
  • Lead first‑of‑kind designs for innovative solutions on a local and global scale.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of critical data‑center mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission‑critical facilities, especially data centers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
  • Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems.
  • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production.
  • Experience using a variety of web‑based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.
