AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that keep our customers’ cloud operational. We solve complex supply‑chain problems and collaborate with engineers, supply‑chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and more to ensure safety, security, and world‑class capacity at the lowest cost.
As an ICT Design Engineer, you will be part of a global engineering team of architects, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, security, and control engineers. Your focus is on designing critical communications pathways, spaces, and cabling within our data centres, accelerating time to market and driving professional growth.
Key Job Responsibilities- Ensure timely delivery of scalable fiber‑optic & copper plant designs and specifications.
- Review and approve ICT pathway, cabling, and equipment submittals.
- Identify and respond to risks and high‑priority issues rapidly and effectively.
- Support new technology and design activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost and installation time.
- Travel 20 % or more to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS’ data centres.
- Contribute creative, out‑of‑the‑box solutions.
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities (e.g., data centres, power generation, oil and gas).
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data‑centre equipment and facilities.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
- At least 2 years of ICT design experience in mission‑critical environments.
- At least 5 years of working experience with fiber‑optic components, cabling, and interconnect products, technologies, and standards.
- BICSI RCDD certification or an internationally recognised equivalent (e.g., CDCDP, DCDC).
- Professional Engineer licence.
- Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
- Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass‑production.
The base salary range for this position is USD 116,800 – 160,000 annually (see locations below).
