Electrical Design Engineer, HV/MV Engineering

AWS Infrastructure Services seeks an Electrical Engineer to join a global engineering team that designs, plans, delivers, and operates all AWS global infrastructure. The role focuses on designing resilient, cost‑effective electrical distribution systems for data center substations, supporting the entire life cycle from concept through permitting, construction, commissioning, and turnover.

• Participate in site‑selection reviews and work with utilities to define site utility requirements.
• Design data center substation electrical systems and collaborate with other disciplines to produce a complete construction document set.
• Create designs that meet or exceed quality requirements while staying within budgetary constraints.
• Review and approve equipment submittals and define project scope.
• Provide technical support for information requests prior to and during construction phases.
• Work with commissioning teams to test, validate, and confirm installation performance of electrical systems.
• Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographical regions.
• Travel to sites for review, field engineering support, audits, and startup activities as required.

• Minimum 4 years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission‑critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, oil and gas).
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.

• Professional Engineer license.
• Knowledge of regional building codes and regulations.
• Experience advancing design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment.
• Ability to read, interpret, and create construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
