Amazon Data Services, Inc. (Job : ) – Environmental Program Manager – Herndon, VA, USA. Salary: $ – $ annually. This role focuses on architecting and implementing AWS’s global environmental programs, including risk management, compliance systems, policies, permitting, and stakeholder engagement for data center development and operations.
Key Responsibilities- Assess environmental risks and requirements to develop mitigations and strategies for data center siting and development.
- Lead technical aspects of environmental due diligence (Phase I & II ESAs, regulatory and permitting evaluations, natural resource and noise assessments).
- Deliver environmental permits, approvals, and plans to enable on‑time and compliant construction and operations.
- Communicate environmental requirements, risks, and activities to internal and external project partners.
- Coordinate with partner teams (Real Estate, Design, Water, Legal, Risk, Power, etc.) to optimize site designs.
- Develop site development and permitting strategies that are environmentally responsible and sustainable.
- Lead regulatory agency interactions and negotiations in support of permit acquisition.
- Develop detailed compliance plans and track metrics to evaluate project success.
- Experience delivering multi‑media environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance projects, with specific expertise in CWA 404, NPDES permitting, groundwater protection, wastewater discharge, and natural and cultural resource evaluations.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, civil engineering or related discipline.
- 7+ years of experience delivering multi‑media environmental due diligence, permitting, and compliance for existing sites and new development.
- 7+ years of experience conducting environmental due diligence for greenfield and brownfield sites, including Phase I and Phase II ESAs and investigative/remedial activities.
- 5+ years project management experience for environmental permitting and/or due diligence projects.
- Experience in multiple U.S. states (preferably VA, MD, PA).
- Data center or critical infrastructure due diligence, design, construction, and/or risk assessment experience.
- Experience managing and/or supporting community/public interactions.
- Experience with Smartsheets or other project management software.
- Up to 25% travel.
- Experience working with large teams on a diverse slate of projects.
