AWS is seeking a Data Center Civil Engineer to join its design team in Herndon, VA. As a Data Center Civil Engineer at AWS, you will lead Civil Engineering designs for Amazon Data Centers and work with a highly creative and efficient design team of architects, engineers, and designers. You will directly impact the design of prototypical Data Center sites, provide technical design guidance and vendor oversight, solve large‑scale implementation issues, and build a strong understanding of site design and program requirements.

This role sits within the Americas Design Engineering team responsible for the design and operation of critical Data Center facilities throughout North and South America.

• Manage external civil design consultants through the design and construction process.
• Review designs for site layout, grading, power substations, stormwater, and utilities.
• Coordinate with internal and external architectural, structural, and MEP design engineers.
• Develop preliminary site layout concepts using Civil 3D, incorporating grading, utilities, and circulation patterns while maintaining flexibility for design evolution.
• Communicate design standards to internal and external project partners.
• Create, review, and maintain project documentation before, during, and after construction.
• Develop and maintain design standards, prototypes, and template specifications related to site design for Data Centers and supporting infrastructure.
• Create, review, and release design RFPs for various projects, including Data Centers and special program facilities.
• Manage multiple fast‑paced projects simultaneously and anticipate TPM expectations regarding project‑specific cost and schedule variables.
• Lead initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality, schedule, and consistency.
• Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with authorities having jurisdiction.

• Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
• Professional Engineering license or plan for acquiring within 12 months of start date.
• 3+ years of commercial, warehouse, and/or industrial site‑civil design experience with work in site development, grading, paving, stormwater, and utility design.

• Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bluebeam Revu.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
