Financial Manager
The DVP/Business Unit Controller is a strategic business partner to the Telular business unit leadership team and is responsible for planning, coordinating, and administering the accounting activities and financial operations to meet the Corporation’s objectives, including recording and reporting financial results and ensuring strong internal controls.
This position reports directly to the DVP/Business Unit Manager of Telular, with a strong dotted line reporting to the AMETEK Measurement, Communications & Testing Division DVP of Finance & IT.
The business unit has financial reporting operations and locations in Illinois, Georgia, and Virginia, and works closely with AMETEK’s Corporate headquarters and shared service centers.
Responsibilities- Maintain effective internal control of all Business Unit operations and locations, implementing and enforcing Corporate processes, procedures and controls across the organization and ensuring Sarbanes‑Oxley compliance.
- Ensure diligence of inputs and drivers of the financial forecast, taking a stand to ensure forecast integrity.
- Provide management with monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews of the organization’s financial status and progress in its various programs and activities, in accordance with corporate reporting formats and requirements.
- Ensure timely preparation and review of financial statements and forecasts.
- Demonstrate ability to manage staff, set goals and objectives to meet Business Unit targets, and select and develop talent.
- Coach and develop team members to enhance performance and technical skills.
- Exercise business partnership skills, working effectively in a matrix organizational environment.
- Serve as a strategic advisor on the financial implications of key business decisions.
- Excel in communication, presentation, leadership, interpersonal skills, problem‑solving, organization, and self‑direction at all levels of the organization.
- Drive the AMETEK culture throughout the organization.
- Streamline financial processes.
- Lead preparation of the annual budget, strategic plan, and operational reviews.
- Manage audits of business units’ financials, internal and external audit requirements, and U.S. Sarbanes‑Oxley‑404 (SOX) testing and compliance.
- Perform due diligence on potential acquisition targets, developing models, business forecasts, and trend analysis to support these opportunities.
- Represent the company externally to government agencies and auditors when necessary.
- Experience with contract manufacturing environment preferred.
- Experience with recurring/subscription revenue preferred.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Collaborate closely with corporate and divisional finance teams for alignment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA and CPA preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in operational accounting leadership roles, including controllership.
- 2–3 years at a public accounting firm a plus.
- Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing experience a plus.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment required.
