Controller - Federal | Chantilly, VA

This is a hybrid position, with the expectation of being on-site at our Chantilly, VA office 3-4 times a week.

The Optiv + Clear Shark Federal Controller directs all accounting functions including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives, and preparation of financial reports. This position reports to the Optiv + Clear Shark President with indirect reporting to the Optiv Finance leadership team.

How you’ll make an impact
• Oversee the operations of the accounting, finance, and related functions.
• Responsible for building and developing accounting policies and procedures.
• Oversight of month-end close process, including review of reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and identification and research of accounting issues.
• Coordinate, analyze, and report financial performance to management.
• Oversee payments of all accounts.
• Monitor working capital and funding balances.
• Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of company divisions.
• Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget
• Manage the preparation of the financial statements and notes thereto
• Manage the external auditors.
• Represent finance in the identification and implementation of new systems and upgrade of existing systems.
• Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and investment decisions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and principles.
• Responsible for leading and managing the Federal Finance and Accounting team.

What we’re looking for
• Bachelor’s Degree / MBA or practical equivalent.
• 10 or more years of solid accounting experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP, SEC rules and regulations, including Sarbanes Oxley compliance.
• 5-10 years progressive accounting experience managing/maintaining Deltek Costpoint ERP system.
• Hands-on knowledge of DCAA compliance standards, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR).
• Ability to demonstrate leadership, creativity, and initiative.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Experience with creating financial statements.
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close.
• Strong accounting software user and administration skills.
• Experience working with senior management leadership and ability to influence others cross-functionally.
• Experience leading and managing people and direct reports is required.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
