Position Responsibilities- Based in the Greater Washington Metropolitan Area (Herndon, VA) and with more than 4,000 employees worldwide, support Deltek's growth strategy within the Legal Department.
- What we are looking for: A motivated, energetic Associate Corporate Counsel to join our Legal Team and assist in multiple areas, including:
- Monitoring and researching relevant privacy, data protection, data security, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity laws, regulations, and risk management frameworks across multiple jurisdictions to ensure compliance.
- Designing and reviewing internal policies, procedures, and standards relating to data protection, data security, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data management.
- Drafting and reviewing data-related clauses in contracts (Software and SaaS agreements, SOWs, Professional Services agreements, RFPs) and privacy and data security related questionnaires with clients, partners, and suppliers.
- Coordinating advice with cross-functional stakeholders, including product, engineering, security, and other internal legal counsel.
- Improving legal processes and facilitating collaboration.
- The ideal candidate would be able to:
- Quickly understand key business objectives.
- Spot risks and opportunities quickly, providing concise summaries and actionable solutions.
- Manage diverse projects independently with a high level of efficiency.
- Collaborate effectively with others.
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
- Active member in good standing of at least one state bar.
- At least one year of practical data privacy counseling experience.
- Familiarity with NIST, ISO, PIPEDA, GDPR and CCPA privacy and security principles, and other equivalent privacy and data security laws and regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
- Positive attitude and interpersonal skills that foster teamwork and effective working relationships.
- Familiarity with and interest in technology (SaaS and AI) and software-related concepts, including emerging technologies, GenAI and large language models both within an organization and within products.
- Experience with international legal work and integration of acquired companies.
- Results-driven; able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented global environment.
- US Citizen is required for this position.
The U.S. salary range for this position is $91,000.00-$. This range is subject to change based on location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience. Certain roles are eligible for incentive compensation and equity. Benefits include healthcare, 401(k) with company match, paid vacation and holidays, wellness programs, disability coverage, basic life insurance, and tuition reimbursement.
