Sr. Scrum Master

Location:

Herndon, VA. Contract. Pay: $50‑$60/hr plus medical benefits.

The client seeks a certified Scrum Master (CSM) located in Herndon, VA. Resource must be available to work onsite and cannot work remotely.

• 5+ years of experience as a member of an Agile scrum development team
• Certified as a Scrum Master from an accredited institution
• At least one medium‑complexity project led as a Scrum Master
• Able to perform the complete system life cycle using Agile Scrum methodology phases from project initiation, analysis & requirements, design, coding, testing and implementation
• Able to create User Stories and define Acceptance Criteria for when code is “Ready”
• Schedule/facilitate sprint planning meetings prior to each sprint
• Ability to break down project schedule/sprint schedule into measurable activities not exceeding five days in length
• Communicate stories for the upcoming sprint to the backlog owner and stakeholders
• Support the Backlog Owner and Portfolio Manager in updating weekly critical path analysis charts
• Schedule and facilitate daily scrum sessions
• Add or remove stories based on burn‑down of the current sprint
• Determine the workload of each member during each sprint to maximize early feature delivery
• Facilitate retrospective meetings at the end of each sprint/project – ensure highest priority points are followed up on and closed out
• Monitor team backlog daily and ensure accurate current state, including time to be burned and status
• Participate in release retrospective and cross‑team retrospectives

• Generate test cases and produce a Requirement Traceability Matrix document
• Adhere to client development standards and SOX compliance
• Communicate to a wide variety of audiences, both business and technical
• Develop and maintain system documentation
• Work independently with minimal direction
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
