Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Amazon Security, we hire the best minds in technology to innovate and build on behalf of our customers. The focus we have on our customers is why we are one of the world’s most beloved brands – customer obsession is part of our company DNA.

Amazon Security is a multidisciplinary team comprised of software engineers, security engineers, program managers, data engineers, and compliance specialists. If you are looking for an opportunity to think big, invent, experiment, build, and have a material impact on cloud security and compliance, this is it.

We build and maintain the tooling and services that enable Security Operations to operate  charter is to automate, innovate, and scale: reducing manual toil, improving response times, and giving security analysts the intelligent tooling they need to keep pace with AWS's growth. Our portfolio includes AI-powered incident response assistants, security issue management integrations, mass notification platforms, inbound email triage systems, and data analytics solutions.

We are hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer to serve as the technical lead for the Gravemind team. You will own architecture decisions, drive design reviews, mentor engineers, and deliver on critical-path implementations. You will partner closely with security analysts who rely on your systems around the clock, and your technical judgment will shape how security automation scales across AWS.

This role demands someone who can hold the full picture of a multi-service portfolio while diving deep into any one system when it matters. You will balance building AI-powered capabilities with operational rigor, because security operations never sleep and neither can the tooling that supports them.

Key job responsibilities
  • Lead design and implementation of AI-powered security automation, including intelligent incident response and natural language-driven security workflows.
  • Mentor and develop engineers on the team. Raise the technical bar through code reviews, pairing, and hands‑on guidance.
  • Drive operational excellence for services that support 24/7/365 security operations, including on‑call, observability, and incident response.
  • Partner with security analysts and security engineers to understand workflows, identify automation opportunities, and deliver tooling that reduces manual toil.
  • Build scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions that consolidate security data sources into actionable metrics and reporting.

A day in the life

You start by reviewing overnight on‑call events and a pull request from a junior engineer building a new detection enrichment pipeline. Mid‑morning, you lead a design review for a generative AI feature that automates incident triage recommendations. After lunch, you pair with a security analyst to understand a manual workflow ripe for automation. You close the day refactoring a critical infrastructure, then sync with your manager on technical priorities for the quarter.
