THE OPPORTUNITY
Storage Engineer will architect, implement, and maintain enterprise‑scale storage solutions supporting the Red Hat Open Shift Virtualization environment. This includes design and optimization of block, file, and object storage systems used for production, disaster recovery, and archival functions. The candidate will also validate storage architecture performance, provide performance tuning, and ensure high availability and data protection across mission‑critical workloads.
HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT- Selected candidate will serve as Storage Engineer to architect, implement and maintain enterprise‑scale storage solutions supporting the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs Red Hat Open Shift Virtualization environment.
- Responsible for the deployment and sustainment of advanced software‑defined storage systems.
- Deploy, integrate and manage large‑scale persistent storage environments into containerized and virtualized environments.
- Develop and adhere to processes and best‑practices for efficient Day‑2 operations.
- Leverage and contribute to automation and orchestration of the environment.
- Lead multiple project initiatives from small to large complex within environment.
- Tackle critical customer escalations as technical point of contact.
- Assist with both high‑level and low‑level design documentations.
- Effectively work independently and within a team environment.
- Perform sustainment activities such as code upgrades, STIG compliance, cybersecurity incident response, outage troubleshooting, customer onboarding, and configuration optimization.
- Deep expertise in enterprise storage platforms, including, but not limited to, Net App ONTAP systems such as FAS/AFF, Dell Power Store, and Pure Flash Blade and Flash Array Storage.
- Architecture experience with software‑defined storage systems including ONTAP Select, vSAN, VxRail, Hyper Flex, Cohesity, and Ctera.
- Experience integrating persistent storage into containerized and virtualized environments (VMware vSphere and Tanzu, Red Hat Open Shift and Kubernetes).
- Proficiency in storage provisioning, snapshotting, replication, and disaster recovery design.
- Strong understanding of storage protocols (NFS, iSCSI, FC, NVMe‑oF, REST) and associated performance characteristics.
- Experience automating storage provisioning via Ansible, Container Storage Interface (CSI) drivers, or Kubernetes storage classes.
- Ability to troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and capacity issues across hybrid or converged infrastructures.
- 10+ years of hands‑on experience in enterprise storage engineering roles.
- U.S. citizen able to obtain VA Public Trust clearance.
