The Virginia Office of the Attorney General (OAG) is seeking a Network Engineer to support and maintain a secure, stable, high-performing enterprise network across multiple locations. This hands‑on role manages routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, wireless infrastructure, and network resiliency, while collaborating with IT teams, vendors, and service providers to ensure secure operations and reliable service delivery in a government environment.
Key Responsibilities- Administer and support enterprise routing, switching, LAN/WAN, wireless, VPN, and SD‑WAN environments
- Maintain secure, reliable, and high-performing network infrastructure across multiple locations
- Monitor network health, troubleshoot connectivity issues, and perform root cause analysis
- Manage firewalls, network segmentation, remote access, and security controls
- Support cloud and hybrid connectivity while coordinating security updates and vulnerability remediation
- Execute network changes through structured change management and maintain documentation
- Coordinate with vendors, telecom providers, and internal IT teams to support operations and infrastructure needs
- Communicate system impacts, risks, and operational status to leadership
- Experience administering enterprise network environments
- Strong knowledge of routing and switching concepts
- Experience with firewalls, VPNs, and secure remote access
- Experience troubleshooting network connectivity and performance issues
- Familiarity with wireless networking technologies
- Understanding of structured operational and change management processes
- Experience with Cisco networking technologies
- Experience with SD‑WAN and hybrid network environments
- Experience in government or regulated environments
- Familiarity with network monitoring and logging tools
- Knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA or CCNP
- Office‑based environment
- Occasional after‑hours support for maintenance or incident response
- Limited travel between office locations may be required
$65K-70K per annum with benefits.
