Product Delivery Manager
Trap Wire Inc. | Full-time
OverviewTrap Wire is hiring a Product Delivery Manager to be the gel between product intent and engineering execution. This is a hands‑on delivery role on a lean, high‑ownership engineering team building a threat detection and analytical SaaS platform used in national security, public safety, and critical infrastructure environments.
This role exists to remove the friction between a stated requirement and a developer being able to confidently start and complete work on it. You will own backlog quality, story readiness, sprint execution, and the day‑to‑day flow of work, protecting engineering focus while making sure the right things get built in the right order.
This is not a process‑administration role and it is not a roadmap‑ownership role. We need someone who can sit between product leadership and a small engineering team, decompose ambiguous requirements into executable stories, and keep iterations moving without adding ceremony.
What You’ll Own- Backlog quality: grooming, prioritization hygiene, and ensuring stories are ready as they enter a sprint.
- Story decomposition: turning product direction, customer requirements, and feature concepts into well‑scoped, build‑ready engineering stories with clear acceptance criteria.
- Sprint execution: planning, daily flow, dependency tracking, and risk surfacing across concurrent work streams.
- Ambiguity reduction: serving as the first point of contact for developer questions about scope, intent, and edge cases, and closing those loops quickly.
- Delivery visibility: maintaining an honest, current picture of what’s in flight, what’s blocked, and what’s at risk, communicated up to leadership without spin.
- Process discipline: light‑touch but consistent. Just enough rigor to keep the team aligned, never more than the team can absorb.
- Developer focus protection: filtering interruptions, batching context switches, and being a reliable buffer between the team and ad hoc requests.
- Story readiness measurably improves: stories entering sprints are scoped, understood, and rarely sent back for clarification.
- Sprint commitment reliability improves: the team finishes what it commits to, with fewer carryovers and less mid‑sprint thrash.
- Cycle time on individual stories drops as developers wait less for answers, decisions, and unblocks.
- Leadership has a clear, current, trusted view of delivery status.
- Engineers report that the process supports them rather than taxing them.
- 5+ years owning delivery on a software engineering team, in roles such as Product Delivery Manager, Technical Product Manager, Delivery Lead, Senior Scrum Master with PO responsibilities, or similar.
- Demonstrated experience translating ambiguous product or customer requirements into clear, executable engineering stories with meaningful acceptance criteria.
- Strong working knowledge of Agile delivery (Scrum, Kanban, or pragmatic hybrids), with enough fluency to run it well and enough judgment to know when to skip the ceremony.
- Comfort working directly with engineers on technical scope, trade‑offs, and dependencies. You don’t need to write production code, but you need to be conversant in how software actually gets built.
- Excellent written and verbal communication. Crisp, low‑noise, no‑spin.
- High ownership and execution maturity in lean environments; you move things forward without waiting to be told.
- Demonstrated discipline using a work‑tracking system (Asana, Jira, Linear, or similar) as a reliable source of truth.
- Experience in a SaaS or enterprise software product organization, particularly in a scale‑up phase.
- Background working on platforms in security, intelligence, analytics, threat detection, Gov Tech, or other high‑stakes domains.
- Prior hands‑on engineering, QA, or technical‑PM experience that informs how you decompose work.
- Experience supporting customers with structured deployments, integrations, or configuration‑driven products.
- Familiarity with applying AI tooling inside the SDLC to accelerate refinement, documentation, and triage.
