The development and operation of large‑scale services involves complex product and business tradeoffs coupled with challenging engineering problems. Our group, Amazon Foundational Security Services (AFSS), delivers internal security services that support Amazon businesses including , Amazon Web Services, Twitch, Whole Foods, Kuiper, and many more.

We develop security services for identity management, permissions management, access control, authorization, and authentication. These services are used company‑wide to ensure that Amazon services have a strong security foundation.

• Build software for internal security systems at Amazon, taking responsibility for the full software lifecycle under a Dev Ops model.
• Lead a high‑performing team, overseeing software architecture, development, operations, and strategic direction.
• Design, prototype, and demonstrate new security features to users, and deploy them through automated release systems.
• Operate and support newly deployed software, and develop radical approaches to automate fixes for operational issues.
• Collaborate with AWS services and internal teams to solve design problems and integrate applications.
• Champion rapid shipping, automated testing, and root‑cause analysis to maintain high service availability.

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 7+ years of engineering experience.
• 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.
• Experience partnering with product or program management teams.

• Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
• Experience recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers.

The base salary range for this position is $ – $ USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
