Network Development Engineer, Network - Core

The AWS Core Networking team is looking for a Network Development Engineer to join our Network Fabric Engineering (NFE) team. In this role you will build, deploy, and scale Amazon’s network infrastructure across global datacenters, supporting AWS customers and other business units.

• Create and implement changes on the network.
• Work closely with automation teams to define tools and processes that enable higher scale.
• Lead network projects in sustaining engineering, deployment, scaling, technology refresh, best practices application, and optimization.
• Diagnose, mitigate, and resolve large‑scale networking events for significant AWS customers.
• Operate and troubleshoot network routing, interconnectivity, platform performance, and configuration issues; including low‑level Unix system interactions and advanced networking software tools.
• Drive and support innovation from Top‑of‑Rack to the Network Border.
• Partner with the broader Network/Infrastructure organization on engineering standards and tooling.
• Collaborate with Network/Systems/Software Engineering teams to roll out new designs and products and sustain networking software tools.
• Maintain compliance with networking toolset standards and policies.
• Deliver simple, sustainable, repeatable solutions and processes.
• Work with escalation engineers and resolvers to resolve critical incidents.
• Document and review network implementation practices, recurring issues, standard operating procedures, and knowledge transfer materials.
• Participate in a 24x7 on‑call rotation and respond to critical events on site when needed.
• Travel to data‑center and customer offices as required.

• 4+ years of major internet routing protocol experience.
• 4+ years working in a Linux/Unix environment.
• Preferred: 1+ year of automation scripting experience using Python, Bash, Shell, or Perl.
