We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support high-visibility Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) modernization programs.

In this role, you will develop clear, accurate, and compliant technical documentation that enables engineers, operators, and stakeholders to confidently work with mission-critical aviation systems. You will collaborate closely with engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and program managers to translate complex technical information into accessible documentation that supports safety, compliance, and operational excellence across the National Airspace System (NAS). Work Location:

* This position is 100% on-site, primarily located in Herndon, VA.
In this position, you will:
* Develop and maintain technical documentation including system manuals, user guides, procedures, training materials, and compliance artifacts

* Translate complex engineering, cybersecurity, and system concepts into clear, concise, and accurate content

* Ensure documentation aligns with FAA standards, federal regulations, and program requirements

* Participate in documentation reviews and audits to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance

* Collaborate with engineers and program teams to gather requirements and validate technical content

* Ensure all deliverables meet Section 508 accessibility and FAA branding guidelines

* Manage documentation schedules and deliverables across multiple work streams

* Prepare documentation status updates and readiness materials for program stakeholders

* Apply industry best practices, tools, and templates to continuously improve documentation quality

Required Qualifications:

* U.S. Citizenship Required.

* Must have the ability to obtain / maintain a Public Trust clearance.

* Bachelor's degree and 8 years of experience or Masters degree and 6 years or Associate's degree and 10 years experience or HS diploma/equivalent and 12 years experience.
* Experience producing technical documentation in engineering, IT, or systems-focused environments.

* Demonstrated experience developing technical manuals, user guides, procedures, and compliance documentation.

* Ability to translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and accurate content for diverse audiences.

* Familiarity with documentation standards, style guides, and content management practices.

* Experience ensuring documentation compliance with federal requirements, contractual standards, or regulated environments.

* Working knowledge of Section 508 accessibility requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Direct FAA or NAS configuration management experience.

* Familiarity with FAA modernization initiatives, Next Gen, or National Airspace System (NAS) environments.
