Role OverviewWe are seeking a Data Engineer to join our growing team in Herndon, Virginia. The data engineer will design data models, build data warehouses and lakes, automate pipelines, and work with datasets of all sizes to optimize overall data/information flow and enable accessibility within security boundaries.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Data Engineer, you will:
- Design data models and build data warehouses and lakes.
- Automate data pipelines and create data collection frameworks for structured and unstructured data.
- Apply ETL techniques to connect large data sets from a variety of sources.
- Create cyber and operational analytic tools for consumers that assist them in building and optimizing downstream products.
- Use and develop standards, tools, processes, and governance for capturing, modeling, storing, and delivering data for the enterprise.
- Minimum 11 years’ experience as a Systems Engineer with a Data Engineer background.
- Information Technology or Engineering Bachelor's or Master’s degree (preferred).
- Experience integrating diverse data streams.
- Experience with data transfer tools such as NiFi, Cribl, etc.
- Establishes data standards and acts as custodian of IT and service delivery data sets and streams.
- Experience analyzing complex networks and systems.
- Experience analyzing log data from various network components and operating systems.
- Knowledge of complex environments involving shared networks and multiple security enclaves.
- Ability to manage and troubleshoot data feeds.
- Splunk familiarization.
- Python programming.
- Security Development and Operations (Sec Dev Ops ) experience.
- Hands‑on Splunk experience and certifications.
- Scripting tools including Python, Shell Script, or Ansible.
- Cloud security controls and implementation.
- Experience with public, private, and hybrid Cloud (AWS, Microsoft Azure, etc.).
- AWS Certified Security Specialty.
