AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
You will join the Controls Fleet team—a group of systems engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers—to build and manage a massive Windows Server fleet. The role focuses on designing, deploying, and supporting thousands of Windows servers in a 24/7, global production environment.
Key job responsibilities- Design, build, and support extensive Windows server environments across AWS data centers.
- Implement and manage enterprise-scale tooling such as Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (ECM) or AWS Systems Manager for a large Windows fleet.
- Develop and implement best practices for automating tasks with Power Shell and other scripting languages.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware issues and troubleshoot system failures in a production environment.
- Utilize networking principles to support the underlying infrastructure.
- Create scripts and automation that are applicable to a global server fleet.
- Participate in a 24x7 on‑call rotation that supports global customers.
- Travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time.
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years of experience deploying, managing, and supporting large‑scale Windows Server environments (500+ servers).
- Experience building scripts, tooling, and automation for large‐scale computing environments.
- Knowledge of Linux and networking protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, and DNS.
- Experience troubleshooting and debugging technical systems, especially virtualization (Hypervisors, VMware, Xen).
- Proficiency with Power Shell or a similar scripting language.
- Experience designing and reviewing scripts that meet maintainability, scalability, and security standards.
- Experience working in a 24/7 production environment.
- Experience using AWS services.
- Proficiency with virtualization (Hypervisors, VMware, Xen) and support of underlying hardware components.
- Demonstrated experience managing a large-scale Windows Server fleet across geographically distributed environments using enterprise configuration management and automation tooling.
