AWS is seeking Data Center Technicians to support our customers in multiple locations. This position requires the successful candidate report to a site location. The role helps ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. The position may involve participation in a primary responder rotation, coordinating response to operational incidents, and rapid resolution of issues impacting service availability.

Primary responder responsibilities may require evening, weekend, holiday, and/or night work. Work independently and with a team; strong prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are essential. The role includes hardware and network repair, equipment installation, documentation, and process improvement in a 24/7 data center environment. Travel within and outside the regional work area is required.

All physical requirements are expected with reasonable accommodations:

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 environment with after-hours support as needed
  • Working in cramped, elevated, and noisy environments
  • Bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day
  • Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing server rack installations, hardware break-fix on components, troubleshooting network issues, and responding to operational incidents that affect service availability; escalate to senior technicians and management as needed
  • Serve as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors
  • Perform on-call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities
  • Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues
  • Help train and onboard new team members

The starting pay for DCO III is $30.77/hour.

A Day in the Life
  • Take ownership of technical issues brought by customers, engaging other teams to drive resolution
  • Solve problems at their root and understand the broader context
  • Maintain service level agreements through proactive issue detection and reporting

You will be required to work shift work that includes days/nights/weekends/holidays. Travel within and outside the regional work area is required.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications
  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in data center operations, IT support, or a similar technical field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or above, or Network or Security certification
  • Experience working in a Data Center environment
  • Understanding of network design, protocols and troubleshooting
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system
  • Understanding of in-depth hardware knowledge (e.g., PCIe)
