Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) seeks a Network Administratorto join our Networks and Computing IT team supporting classified programs.
The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience managing network devices, strong troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of network security principles. This position requires an active Top Secret clearance and offers the opportunity to work with cutting‑edge technologies in a secure, fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Administer, configure, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and call manager systems.
- Ensure high availability and secure connectivity across mission‑critical environments.
- Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions to ensure optimal availability and security.
- Support network access control, user authentication, and segmentation in compliance with security policies and frameworks.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement network security controls, vulnerability remediation, and incident response.
- Assist with network capacity planning, upgrades, and documentation to support evolving program requirements.
- Participate in system provisioning, patch management, and configuration backups.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end users and other IT teams.
- Maintain compliance with DoD security standards such as JSIG RMF and STIGs
. - Engage in continuous learning and professional development to stay current with emerging network technologies and security best practices.
- Active Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
- TS/SCI OR successful completion of a Tier 5 Investigation (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) by the federal government within the last 5 years, or have been enrolled in a Continuous Vetting program within the last 5 years.
- Eligibility for SAP access.
- Minimum years of related experience: 1+ for level 2, 3+ for level 3.
- Hands‑on experience with Cisco routers and switches and Cisco IOS implementations.
- If not already within commuting distance of the worksite, willingness and ability to relocate at own expense.
- Knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
- Experience administering enterprise network infrastructure.
- Proficiency with layered network protocols.
- Experience supporting classified or Special Access Programs (SAP).
- Familiarity with network automation and orchestration tools.
- Knowledge of network monitoring and logging tools (e.g., SNMP, Nagios, SIEM).
- Experience with cloud networking and hybrid environments.
- Security certifications such as CCNA
, CCNP
, CISSP
, or equivalent. - Understanding of compliance frameworks such as RMF
, JSIG, and STIGs.
Associate (level
2):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master, 6 year's related work experience, etc.).
Experienced (level
3):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.).
