NW Deployment Build Lead I, DCC Communities

Job :  | Amazon Web Services, Inc.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

As an IDND Project Lead you will be tasked with launching cutting edge server technologies and solving diverse Data Center technical impairments which impede launching new network capacity at a local data center level. The ideal candidate will be able to quickly and accurately deploy infrastructure with a solid understanding of computers, servers, switches and various networking devices from both a hardware and software perspective.

You must possess technical aptitude, written and oral communications skills, the ability to effectively deal with people in a wide variety of situations, strong analytical skills, and demonstrated problem solving ability. Have the ability to successfully operate in extreme high pressure situations, handle multiple critical priorities simultaneously, while showing strong initiative and judgment.

Responsibilities
  • Act as the technical point of contact for internal teams.
  • Perform process improvement: gather data on common failures or waste and work with supporting teams to get them resolved, minimized, or eliminated.
  • Perform rigorous hardware verification inspections to ensure quality on server racks, networking devices, and associated components.
  • Launch new network capacity.
  • Assist deployment technicians with rack deployments on heavy deployment days or cabling team.
  • Ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, always with an eye on improvement.
  • Work closely with install/deployment technicians, supply chain & procurement, and technical project manager teams to ensure fast, smooth delivery of on-demand customer capacity.
  • Coordinate design, project timeline/schedule, and construction works.
Basic Qualifications
  • 1+ years of computer networking experience.
  • 2+ years of computer hardware repair, infrastructure cabling, network deployment, data center operations, or technical project management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in computer networking.
  • Experience working with Linux operating systems.
  • Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds.
  • Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Can work in cramped spaces or in elevated locations while adhering to health & safety guidelines.
  • Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
  • Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
  • Experience with cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies.
  • Experience working in a data center environment (racking and stacking gear, cable management, hot/cold aisle containment).
