Overview

In this role you drive operational excellence, optimize data center deployment strategies, and create seamless connectivity solutions that support Amazon’s massive technological ecosystem.

• Lead a team of technicians to install and build server rack capacity.
• Manage and develop teams of technicians and engineers, providing technical and leadership expertise and ensuring the highest performance.
• Deliver capacity to existing data centers and help build and bring online new data centers.
• Continuously improve all processes and procedures, driving positive changes through metrics.
• Assist and manage relationships with external vendors and contractors.
• Liaise with internal teams and management groups.
• Ensure compliance with and exceed local Health & Safety standards in all data centers.
• Create and maintain metrics for all aspects of the data centers and use data to drive improvements.
• Assist with implementing service methodologies including incident, problem, change, and capacity management.
• Support data centers in various operational stages, including training at established locations until the assigned site becomes fully operational.

• Ability to travel or commute (over 50 miles) to active data center sites as required.
• Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until the assigned facility is operational.
• Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and the operational status of the assigned facility.
• Strong customer‑experience focus, global mindset, and passion for data center infrastructure innovation.

Conduct daily in‑person safety inspections, meetings, and operational tasks across Northern Virginia data center locations. Attend weekly regional manager staff meetings at AWS corporate locations in Herndon, VA as required.

• 2+ years of experience in a data center technology role.
• 2+ years of management/team‑lead experience.
• 2+ years of knowledge in TCP/IP networking, network cabling, fiber, optic types, and test equipment.

• Knowledge of networking infrastructure topology.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional or military experience in an IT‑related field.
• Experience with installing physical data center equipment such as copper/fiber cabling and racks.
• Certifications in a relevant field (e.g., CCENT, Network+, CCNA).
• Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience.
