Position Summary
As a Data Engineer III on Walmart’s User and Entity Behavior Analytics (UEBA) team, you will design and build scalable data pipelines that transform disparate data sources into actionable detections that strengthen data loss prevention (DLP), insider threat, and threat actor detection capabilities. Partnering closely with data scientists, detection engineers, analysts, and other Info Sec teams, you will deliver trusted, governed data assets that enable automation, AI‑driven analytics, and high‑fidelity detections to protect Walmart’s customers, associates, and global technology environment.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Data Engineer III, you will transform enterprise data into actionable detections, design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines that ingest, enrich, and transform data from various security and enterprise sources into high‑fidelity detections for threat actors, insider risk, and data loss prevention (DLP). You will work closely with data scientists, detection engineers, analysts, and cybersecurity partners to engineer reliable, production‑grade data assets that enable faster detection, higher confidence alerting, and more effective response to emerging threats.
RequirementsExperience designing and building scalable data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver trusted data for analytics, automation, or machine learning. Strong proficiency in SQL and relational databases, with experience developing efficient data models, documenting data lineage, and optimizing large‑scale datasets. Familiarity with ETL frameworks, workflow orchestration, and cloud or big data platforms. Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems, identify root causes, and communicate solutions effectively across technical and business teams.
A self‑starter with a passion for automation, innovation, and leveraging data to build high‑impact cybersecurity capabilities that protect customers and the business.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, information systems, cybersecurity or related area and 2 years’ experience in data assurance at a technology, retail, or data‑driven company.
- Or 4 years’ experience in data assurance at a technology, retail, or data‑driven company.
- Certification in Security+, Network+, GISF, CISSP, or CCSP.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related area.
- Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
