Application Packaging Engineer
Marathon TS is looking to hire a contract Application Packaging Engineer. The Application Packaging Engineer will support the design, packaging, testing, deployment, and lifecycle maintenance of enterprise Windows applications across Commercial and GCC High environments. This role is responsible for building reliable, repeatable application packages using Power Shell App Deployment Toolkit and preparing Win
32 application deployments for Microsoft Intune. The engineer will help maintain secure and supportable application versions, support N-1 compliance, troubleshoot endpoint deployment failures, and assist with application migration into GCCH where packages must be validated independently.
- Package, test, and deploy Windows applications using Power Shell App Deployment Toolkit (PSADT).
- Create Microsoft Intune Win
32 application packages using the Microsoft Win
32 Content Prep Tool. - Import applications into Intune and configure install commands, uninstall commands, detection rules, requirement rules, return codes, dependencies, and assignment readiness.
- Develop Power Shell-based install, uninstall, repair, and detection logic with clear logging and predictable exit handling.
- Validate application behavior through pilot and production deployment rings before broad rollout.
- Maintain application documentation, including source files, install parameters, detection methods, version history, known issues, and deployment notes.
- Support application lifecycle management, vendor updates, vulnerability remediation, and N-1 version compliance.
- Troubleshoot failed deployments using Intune Management Extension logs, application logs, Event Viewer, return codes, and endpoint-side validation.
- Support Commercial-to-GCCH application migration, including repackaging, testing, and deployment validation.
- Coordinate with security, application owners, service desk, and endpoint engineering teams to confirm package readiness and user impact.
- Hands-on experience packaging applications with Power Shell App Deployment Toolkit.
- Experience creating, importing, and deploying Win
32 applications in Microsoft Intune. - Strong Power Shell scripting skills for installation logic, detection, logging, uninstall logic, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of Intune Management Extension behavior, Win
32 app content preparation, detection methods, and deployment assignments. - Experience with MSI, EXE, vendor installers, silent switches, transforms, configuration files, and enterprise deployment standards.
- Ability to troubleshoot application install failures, detection failures, dependency issues, and return codes.
- Familiarity with Windows endpoint management, application lifecycle management, and software update processes.
- Strong documentation habits and ability to create supportable packages that another engineer can maintain.
- Experience with GCC High, GCCH, or restricted/government cloud environments.
- Experience with Microsoft Configuration Manager / SCCM application packaging and migration to Intune.
- Familiarity with co-management environments and application deployment rings.
- Experience supporting application vulnerability remediation and N-1 version compliance.
- Experience packaging complex, licensed, or engineering applications such as Autodesk, Bluebeam, developer tools, or specialized business applications.
- Understanding of application security review, least privilege deployment, endpoint compliance, and change-control expectations.
- Applications are packaged consistently using PSADT standards.
- Intune Win
32 deployments include accurate install, uninstall, and detection logic. - Packages successfully complete pilot testing before production rollout.
- Application updates support N-1 compliance and vulnerability remediation targets.
- Packaging backlog and request turnaround remain within agreed service levels.
- Documentation is complete enough for another engineer to support or update the package.
